Principal's Message

Dear Whittier Elementary School Families,

I am thrilled and honored to be Whittier Elementary School's principal.  I extend my warmest greetings to all of you.  

My name is Dr. José Montaño, and my passion for equity in education and fostering a nurturing learning environment has guided my journey for over 25 years in education. That journey has taken me to schools in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Ana and most recently Indio, California. While I was part of those amazing communities, I approached my work with the firm belief that every child is a unique and precious individual, deserving of a safe, enriching, inspiring and equitable educational experience.  

I am eager to hear your ideas, thoughts, and aspirations for our school.  Your input will be instrumental in setting our collective goals and vision for the remainder of this school year and beyond.  Together, let us embark on this exciting journey of growth, learning, and collaboration.  I look forward to the possibilities that exist at Whittier Elementary School, and I am humbled by your welcoming embrace.
