School Site Council
Whittier Elementary School Site Council (SSC) is a group of teachers, parents, administrators, and interested community members who work together to develop and monitor our school's improvement plan. The SSC is a legally required decision-making body for any school receiving federal funds. School Site Council meets for a minimum of four times a year to make decisions that will best serve our students and our school community.
The School Site Council serves as the school community representative body for determining the focus of the school’s academic instructional program and all related categorical resources. The Council’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing and approving the Single Plan for Student Achievement and all proposed expenditures in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
- Providing ongoing monitoring of the implementation of the plan and budgets.
- Participating in all local, state, and federal reviews of the school’s program for compliance and quality.
- Conducting an annual evaluation of the effectiveness of the school’s progress toward meeting the school goals.
