Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) is pleased to offer elementary summer programs to current NMUSD students entering kindergarten through sixth grade in the 2026-27 school year.

Summer programs will operate Monday through Friday, June 15-July 10, 2026 (no school on June 19 or July 3).

Two programs will be offered this summer:
 

SUMMER SCHOLARS ACADEMY

The no-cost Summer Scholars Academy has a morning session (7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) focused on academics and a full-day option (7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.), with the extended day focused on enrichment activities. 

The Summer Scholars Academy has limited seating available. Students who qualify for free and reduced-priced meals, English Learners, and foster youth are provided priority enrollment. Additional information will be sent to these qualifying families, including transportation options and enrollment instructions, in early March. 

Enrollment will be carefully monitored. If space becomes available, additional families will be notified about the opportunity to enroll. Please keep in mind that completing registration does not guarantee automatic enrollment. Should demand exceed capacity, a waitlist will be created. Families will be informed of their status by Mid-March.

SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM

Available to all current NMUSD students entering kindergarten through 6th grade in the 2026-27 school year. 

This program will be located at Lincoln Elementary. The morning session (7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) provides a no-cost, NMUSD-led academic program.

Optional fee-based afternoon programs (12:30-4:30 p.m.) will be offered by community partners and require separate registration and parent payment. Afternoon enrichment programs are not affiliated with, managed, or overseen by NMUSD.

Additional information will be shared in March.
